Fuels for the Monitors found in different parts of the country may come under the names of Kerosenes, K1 or 1 K Kerosene, Stove Oil, #1 Fuel Oil,or Jet A Fuel with a Sulphur content of .05% max. Our company calls the fuel, Stove Oil. Stove Oil does not gell in the tank below freezing. Alaska residents rely on the Monitors with the Stove Oil! Furnace Oil (Diesel #2) should not be used in the Monitor, as the Monitor does not work. Monitor uses electricity 120 volts, 60 cycles to move the fan and keep the memory program. Now a battery backup is available without using electricity! Surefire sentry backup for the Monitor 422 is an inverter with a RV/marine battery plugged into the existing power outlet staying charged. When the power is out, the inverter kicks on. One battery can last 5.5 hours. Extra batteries can be daisy chained for longer life! Surefire will not power the Monitor 2400, as it requires a true sine wave to operate. When the tank is below the Monitor installation, lifter pumps are also available!

Easy Self Installation
Monitors are direct vented. Only a 2.5 inch hole in the wall of home for the flue pipe. It's a pipe within a pipe. Fresh cold outside air enters through the outside pipe, heats the room, and the exhaust is sent out through the inside pipe to the outdoors. (The cold air is preheated). Monitors should be installed on an outside wall of the home. Inside walls need extension kits. Four standard kits are available. The total length of either the intake or exhaust pipe should not exceed 10 feet with 3 elbows, or 13 feet with 2 elbows, or 16.5 feet with 1 elbow. Basically only 3 turns of pipe. The closer to fresh air, the better for 93% efficiency! No ducting is needed!!

Outside Storage Tank
The Monitor 2400 should be used with at least a 220 gallon tank. Mid- sized homes tend to use 30 to 45 gallons in a cold winter month depending on size of home, insulation, temperature run at, length you are home, how long below freezing. 275 gallons can take you through at least 8 months to 12 months. Tanks can be oval including 18 inch legs, (220 oval w/legs plus cap $; 275 oval w/legs plus cap $) Tank must be at least 16" above the floor of the stove to have gravity feed of fuel to the tank. Tank must be a minimum 3 feet away from flue pipe. (Oil prices quoted are as of February 1, 2002!)

Plumbing Package
Plumbing Package joins the tank to the stove and includes 60ft 3/8 inch copper tubing, ball valve, flared fittings, and oil filter, for a total $. Individual items are available.

Labor
Professional installation is recommended, and in some areas may be required by law. One person can install the heater and 220 gallon tank in four to five hours. If we install, a mechanical permit must be obtained. Jackson County charges about $, and it is inspected. Our installer must make estimate. Install labor with tank is $ average.
